Shannah Birchenough

Co founder and Director

Shannah started dancing at the age of 6 in Ballroom, Latin, Classical Sequence and Disco.  After many years of taking medal exams, she discovered the wonderful world of competitive dancing whilst studying economics at the University of York.

 

She competed at Amateur Championship level in ballroom on a national and international level in the 1990s, eventually winning the Welsh National Championships and earning a place to represent Wales in the World & European Championships.

 

Shannah turned professional in 2000 and now enjoys helping her pupils (from age 6 to 96) progress and fulfil their potential.  In addition to Ballroom, Latin and Sequence, she is also highly qualified in Argentine Tango and currently studying for Swing Dance qualifications.

 

She is a Member of the UKA and GPTD & is CRB checked.

Mark Birchenough

Co founder and Director

Mark holds the highest level of qualification in his society as a Fellow and Examiner with the UKA.​  He is also Junior Vice President of The Guild of Professional Teachers of Dance.

 

He represented the U.K. both nationally and internationally, was Welsh National Championship and represented Wales in the World & European Championships.



His combination of competition and professional experience make him one of the most highly qualified teachers in Cheshire.



Mark also has an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Liverpool.

Phil has worked all over the world and enjoyed dancing as he travelled, from Viennese Waltz in Vienna to Line dancing in Canada. 

 

He started learning Ballroom & Latin in 2009 and within a couple of years won the Medallist Classical Sequence Competition at Blackpool.  He has now taken his professional exams and is a member of the UKA and also a qualified First Aider. 

Phil Hughes

Teacher

Holly started dancing in the DanceBasics children's class at the age of 6. She soon showed a natural aptitude and went on to enjoy many wins in the highest grade at the National Medallist Competitions.  

 

She is now a valued teaching assistant in the classes and enjoys helping dancers in her private lessons.  She is also a talented dressmaker with many beautiful creations seen on the dancefloor.

Megan Iredale

Megan took one look at Strictly Come Dancing and knew she had to try!!  She has now worked her way through the medal grades and now helps out in the children's classes during the week.

 

She is now a valued teaching assistant in the classes and enjoys helping dancers in her private lessons.  



 

Helena is our specialist Middle Eastern dance teacher who regularly performs at Haflas around the UK.  She is also danced ballroom and latin since a child and helps teach our children's classes.

 

She is a fully qualified member of the UKA and GPTD
